To all our Campers, Parents, Staff, and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors and all the Y Staff, it is our pleasure to welcome you to our Summer Camps. With over 10 divisions to choose from, we promise a great “fit” in a safe and most enjoyable season. Our camps are known for their diverse activities and programming…sports, swim, cooking, art, drama, music, Jewish and Secular education, and the exciting trips to unique and creative locations. Being part of our Camps, also means “Y” Family membership, and giving you the opportunity to enjoy our facility and services year-round. We look forward to seeing you in our pool, Fitness Center, classes, cultural events, parties, concerts, Child care, Vacation, and Afterschool programs. There are exciting plans on the horizon to expand our Youth events and Food Service Program. Please feel free to contact either myself or any other Camp Director or Staff member if you would like any more information, details,  or a personal tour. We are all looking forward to our first day of Camp on June 26th …hope to see you then or before!

Meet the Program Director: Jani

 

Jani (Kovacs) Jonas joined the Y back in the 1980′s when her children were just babies. And she always had a policy to “never work in the summer…that is reserved for the beach.”  However, shortly after this “proclamation,” Jani was given the opportunity to re-start the day camp at our Y, which was down to 80 children. She called some of her good friends, (Debbie & Stacie…who  are still working today) to put their 3 heads together to make a camp. And voila…the rest is history. We are proud to have gotten the number of campers close to the 500 mark, and expanded into 11 divisions. BTW, Jani is a Nutritionist by education. She is now the Program Director at the Y, overseeing camp but not directly “working it” anymore. She resides in Springfield and Long Beach Island with her husband Andy, & dog Abner. “Her” boys, Jonathan & Jeremy, avid campers and then, of course, “star” counselors, later started the Facebook group, “Legends of the Union  Y.”
